Great Value for the Price
When I order the mattress I didn’t have many expectations just because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money but oh man did this mattress impress the hell out of me. It came 5 days earlier than expected which is amazing. The instructions on how to open the vacuum sealed package were easy and clear and the mattress poofed up very quickly. The mattress is also super comfy. I got the 10″ mattress instead of the 8″ because I wasn’t sure about the thickness and the comfort level of a thinner mattress but I shouldn’t have worried. If I needed to recommend a mattress or buy another one I’d go with this because the value and comfort of this mattress at this price is hard to beat.

This mattress does not have a layer of foam on top so to me this one is not a soft version, which I’m ok with. The edges however are soft and this makes you feel like you can roll off the bed but other than that it feels comfortable. One more thing I noticed is a synthetic smell when you unpack the mattrass, it can hold for a day or two.

Itâs a soft bed, great for children, too soft for the adults in my opinion. The edges arenât as firm as Iâd like and easily allows you to roll off the bed. Price was right for what it is.

I love my new bed. I put this mattress on a Zinus bed frame that didn’t require a box spring. This is the most comfortable bed I have bought im my life. it is very confortable, and doesn’t move on the frame.What I did to stop the mattress from moving is I took the box the bed frame came in and opened it up. I read in some reviews to do this to stop the mattress from moving on the frame and for the mattress not to fall off the bed. I then used two-sided tape to tape the box to the frame. I then used a rubber mat on top of the box then the bed. It hasn’t moved in the two weeks I’ve had the bed.Nice job on the delivery BTW. I was very leary about ordering a mattress online but Amazon along with Zinus came together to get the job done. WAY TO GO!

I was deeply apposed to a bed in a bag – but I had to try this for the price. I ordered it and within a couple days it arrived – expanded almost fully within moments – extremely comfortable – never would have believed it just came out of that little box! It is very plush and looks like a $900 – $1500 mattress at least. Extremely pleased with this bed.

 Despite the Prime shipping promise, mattress arrived considerably later than expected (almost one week). And while 80% of the Amazon customer service reps I engaged with (I called over EIGHT TIMES) were kind, conciliatory and pleasant regarding the significant delay, the other 20% were absolutely abysmal and borderline incompetent and rude. Amazon ultimately did their best to apologize, accomodate and make up for the mistake, and I greatly appreciate that, but as a customer of over 18+ years, the delay and confusion are not something I expected, nor something I ever hope to experience again.Alas, as for the product itself, the box arrived in absolute tatters as evidenced in the photos. I don’t know if this was the fault of Amazon or UPS or both, but what I do know is that it’s a mind-bending miracle the mattress itself was somehow not damaged or punctured by all the apparent mangling and mishandling. In any case, after unwrapping the extremely well-sealed and airtight clear plastic covering, the nicely-stitched mattress began to take shape almost instantly (see video). I gave it a good 36 hours to air out, checking up on it every four hours or so, wherein I noticed the bed getting firmer and firmer as more air entered into the mattress cavity and coils.I have now slept on the mattress for five consecutive nights and can attest to and affirm what many of the other reviewers have said regarding comfort. The mattress is an excellent balance of firm with just enough cushion of soft (given the pillow top) to make it a great night’s sleep. It is by no means fluffy, bouncy or overly plush, nor is it rock hard solid like concrete. It is simply a good compromise for those wanting to save some greenbacks while also saving their real backs. My intermittent back pain and overheating issues from our previous full memory foam mattress have been completely alleviated by this bed and so far, so good … I am happy with it. Not so happy with the entire ordeal and delay of receiving the item, but definitely happy with the end result.Time will tell how well the mattress holds up, but all in all this is a great bed at a great price and I’d definitely recommend it as part of the well-constructed and well-priced Zinus line of products.

I bought 2 of the 10 inch kings for our vacation rental cabin in the mountains. I added the 4 inch night therapy foam mattress topper from Sams Club to the top of it (which I got on sale for ninety nine bucks) and a good mattress pad from Macy’s (marked down from forty nine to seventeen bucks on a one day sale). I slept on one of them the 1st night I put them on just to make sure they were ok for guests. A HUGE improvement over the prior mattresses and I slept like a baby. For the record, I have a bad back and bad shoulder…woke up fresh as a daisy with no pain the next morning. The only thing I wish they had (which several folks have already mentioned) is a more stable side to the mattress. It does give a good bit when you sit on the side of the bed. I deduct a half star and give it a 4.5 star because of the soft side, but because of the value, I upped it to 5…and honestly, if you are going on value for the dollar, this thing is a 5.5 out of 5. And once you are off the side and on top of the mattress, everything is great. I will give an update after guests have been sleeping on them for a couple of years. So far, I have had 5 guests sleep on them since I added them…2 of them specifically mentioned how comfortable the beds are…and one of them actually told me they ordered a new mattress from the internet while they were at the cabin because they slept so good on it. Time will tell if they stay that way, but if I get 5 years out of them, I will be pretty happy at 500 bucks for 2 king mattresses shipped.

UPDATE: 26 months laterThe mattress is holding up fine overall, but as I predicted, one of the sidwalls got smushed/warped. On the foot of the bed, where my kids jump, and where we sit and read bedtime stories.I don’t fully blame the mattress, we never intended to make this our full time mattress, but we have been using it more than full time. In fact, remember that vintage commercial where the gorillas stomp on the luggage? Yup that’s my kids. They have energy that won’t stop, and we have all been incredibly rough on this mattress.It’s not ruined by any means, it’s still fine. And I might be able to fix it (pop the springs back out). In fact the thing still looks new otherwise (we use mattress covers).And, I should also mention I basically lived in this bed for several months after a bad knee injury (worked on my laptop in bed, etc). So I’m sticking to my original assessment: with normal use, this should last 4-5 years, maybe more if you’re gentle. No regrets buying it.Original review:============It’s tough buying a mattress, of all things, without trying it first. But after going to several local stores, I was looking for firm & simple (no pillow top), and I didn’t fall in love with anything, and most of them were in the $2,000-$3,000 price range (YIKES!).So I figured, I’d gamble on this mattress for $200. Actually, the gamble paid off. Over a year later it’s holding up just fine. Here’s the information I *wish* I’d known before ordering:1) It ships “compressed”, in a surprisingly small box. You will not believe they fit a whole mattress in there. Take the box to your bedroom (do *not* open it on the porch LOL), open the box on your bed, and stand back! It takes just a couple minutes (do it slowly, it will unfold itself). But it takes 24 hours to really regain it’s full shape. IMPORTANT: Open some windows for at least an hour, you’ll get some latex fumes (VOCs, which actually can be dangerous).2) No, you CANNOT return this item. There’s no way you’ll ever get it back in that box (they use a huge machine to fold the mattress up). Make sure this is what you want before you order, because you’re stuck with it.3) Yes it’s a real mattress. It’s not foam or anything like that, it’s a real coil / spring mattress with a thin layer of batting on top (like 1/4″, maybe 1/2″).4) THIS MATTRESS IS MEDIUM-FIRM.I’m laughing at the varying reviews, opinions are all over the map! Some say it’s soft as a pillow, others say it’s hard as a brick, LOL. Most people (including mattress sales people) don’t know how to rate a mattress. THIS IS A 7 (out of 10). Also be aware, soft mattresses are bad for your back. This is a well-studied fact.5) The coils are fine, but make no mistake, this is a cheaply made mattress. It has no sidewalls at all (i.e., for sitting on the edge of the bed), and this is really my only complaint. The stitching is fine, but it’s far from high quality. I estimate it will last about 4-5 years, maybe more if you’re gentle with it.6) It is not reversible. You should rotate it every 3-6 months, but you cannot flip it – there’s no padding on the underside.7) This is best on a box spring (not included). You can use it on a platform bed, on the floor, just about anywhere you want. But like any coil mattress, it’s best on a box spring. (This will *not* work on a futon, hospital bed, or anything that folds up – the mattress only lays flat).8) Bottom line: This is a basic, medium-firm, spring mattress. No frills at all. We waited til we’d slept on this for awhile and let the free return period expire before writing this. WARNING this is a long review to try to save you hassle and time. Take it for what it’s worth.A few important things to start:First, mattress buying is intensely personal. One women’s perfect “sleeping on a cloud” pillow top is another man’s back breaking “no support felt like a hammock” So we’ll state our bias…we both like an extra firm mattress and that’s the version we purchased.Second, firmness and durability is often a function of overall weight of the sleepers. So without too many personal details, we’ll share that our COMBINED weight is around 330lbs or so.Third, frame of reference matters so we’ll be clear this aint our first rodeo. We’re old enough to remember the first days of MTV (they had music videos!) and have owned all sorts of mattresses over the years from garbage “unclaimed freight” cheapies to top of the line memory foam and every fad kinda coil in between some costing several thousand. It never seemed to matter much. Same problems always surfaced within 1 to 6 months incl:* bouncy-ness – your partner feeling every toss and turn and definitely if you get up / come to bed at different times* loss of overall firmness within a short period* temperature – memory foam or coil/ memory foam hybrids have always end up with at least one of us in pools of sweat no matter how we set the thermostat* the dreaded “middle dip” where the portion of the mattress that should support your torso sags dramatically (if you use your bed for more than, uhm, just sleeping, this is a serious problem)So when it came time to replace our old mattress this time we were open to any solution that worked at pretty much any price up to $2k. We won’t name names, but we looked at everything from furniture stores, to the mattresses only stores to bed in box, to that high end online only company that sells a regular mattress with a long trial period.When we combined price, Amazon reviews, independent reviews etc., we opted for this Zinus BUT in the combo with the steel frame thing. We saw some “meh” reviews reviews for mattress alone but GREAT reviews for the combo of two. First we thought it was a “fake reviews” gimmick to get you to buy both, but then when we saw that even together they still cost less than a run of the mill mattress, and WAY less than the other bed in box brands that heavily advertise, we went for it.It’s now been 1 month and we could not be happier. Here’s the score card:* bouncy-ness – none/zero and that’s saying alot b/c Mrs is a shorty and practically needs to jump up into bed given the height of the mattress and box on top of our already high platform bed* loss of overall firmness – 1 month and no loss at all….but this is a criteria we’ll keep an eye on it’s early in the game* temperature – no issues whatsoever. mattress has no affect. you are as cold or hot as your thermostat and blanket choice.* the dreaded “middle dip” – again early in the game (tho we have had mattresses give out this quickly) but so far extremely pleasedWe’ll try hard to update at intervals up to 6 months or so but meantime can say with confidence, if you’re on the fence, don’t be. We spend about $360 on the set and are sleeping better than when we’ve spent $1,000sA quick Post Script on other stuff….assembly of the frame was a breeze. The directions are a marvel of the graphical presentation of instructions. Could not be simpler.unboxing the mattress FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS for expansion, waiting to use it and NOT TOUCHING IT or pressing on it meantime, yes it will be at full height in 10 or 15 min but that’s not the point. it’s been compressed for days or weeks. if you don’t wait you’re messing with the coils…just wait the doggone 2 days! Seems like most of the bad reviews (especially on quick sagging) failed this basic thing.the fiberglass thing we saw elsewhere on the Internet seems way overblown. we suppose if use a razor to open it (instructions are super clear NOT to), handle it roughly or have pets that aggressively scratch or pick at it you might get some leakage but normal use for normal people we can’t imagine it happening.

This mattress has held up SO well and is still as comfortable and firm as can be, can’t feel a spring after over a year of use. I didn’t believe a decent mattress could be this cheap. I took off two stars for a MAJOR downside for us and likely for you other parents: It’s still off-gassing a nasty chemical smell that gives me migraines … a year later. Totally not cool, Zinus. Take these chemicals out of these beds! I hate that my daughter is sleeping on a chemical soup of unknown nature – Even though we’ve put a total enclosure on it to protect against allergens and chemical odor, it still smells really chemical.
