Excellent, easy to use
This product was very helpful, easy to use and stores well. I work in a setting that supports persons of all walks of life and backgrounds and housing situations. This is an excellent safety precaution and easy to use.Just need to make sure that your electrical situation will safely support the use. Enough separate breakers with enough amperage for 5 units. Also, make sure you look at the dimensions of the product. As you can see in my photo, this tent is set up next to a full size garage door. 2 persons to set up is a plus.Overall, excellent purchase. Very happy I bought this item.

Long story short – we got bed bugs after returning from an adults only resort in Mexico. The bugs were contained to our master bedroom only (thank everything holy). Before we decided to spend the money on this, we spent a lot of time using sprays and powders and even threw away our bed set – that didnât stop them. This thing works though. It takes 2 people to setup so have someone help. It doesnât have anything to help hold a mattress up so you will need to get creative (chairs, other furniture, the bed frame, etc).It has 4 heaters that come with it and lots of extension cords. Check your circuit panel and follow the instructions (1 heater per 15 amp circuit). The first set of heaters they sent have an auto shut off âfeatureâ which is the most annoying thing in the world because it shuts off every 5 minutes as you approach kill temperature. So when you have 4 heaters and youâre trying to heat blast something for hours, it is extremely painful to have to babysit 4 heaters flipping off every few minutes. They start beeping and I can still hear them to this day. We had previously purchased their small heater product for suitcases and that one does not have auto shut off. We called them and they sent us those heaters without the auto shut off, free of charge! That made up for it.We ended up having to use it twice. The first time we used it, we were bed bug free for 5 weeks (we reintroduced a mattress pad that had been washed and dried but I guess they somehow lived on it). We used it again and theyâve been gone for 7 weeks now. Second time using it was nicer because we had new heaters that didnât auto shut off.The great customer service and the fact that it was the only thing that worked was amazing. We didnât have to throw out anymore furniture and it paid for itself when we had to zap our room again. Exterminators are about the price of this so if you think you need to use it multiple times, just get this. Also, another review mentioned that they were able to zap their entire room just by opening the zippers to the room. Iâd say it really depends on the size of your room. We were able to get our bedroom up to 115 degrees but it took a very long time and I had the ceiling fan on to circulate the air. I wouldnât count on it if you have a large room. So if you youâre trying to use this to treat a room, your mileage may vary.It comes with a big bag for storage that is nice quality. It wonât ever fold up as compact as it came but thatâs ok.If youâre on the fence, just get it. Yes itâs expensive but worth it to be free of bed bugs.

This unit needs to be sold with more information. After calling the very helpful staff several times, I found that it wont really work outside, nor will it work on concrete. You have to put some type of insulating material under it (cardboard, carpet, wood were suggestions) to get it to even come close to 120 degrees. It can’t be cold where it’s used, they told me it’s best to have it at room temp or higher. I never really got it to 120 even with the heat in the house set to 85 degrees. Highest I got was 118 and it takes a while. Don’t lean anything heavy (mattresses) against the side, it will tip over. If it works, it was a good purchase. Not sure it deserves some of the rave reviews but if it kills the bedbugs, I’ll take a little inconvenience.

Everyone else here has glowing praise, but my experience so far hasn’t been so positive. Caveat: the results I am reporting right now are for the beginning of an Australian winter (late April). The instruction manual says that an ambient room temperature of 70F is the minimum temperature that will produce results, but this is clearly not true. It is likely that I will get better results in the summer. I will update this review in the summer, approx 9 months from now.I used this heater for 2 consecutive days, the first day for about 7 hours, the second day for about 11 hours. Immediately after treatment, I also put my bedsheets and clothing into the dryer for extra certainty. On both nights, I felt nymphs still crawling on me. On the 1st morning I awoke with about 3 new bites, and on the 2nd morning, only 1. But nymphs crawling either way.Conditions: ambient daytime room temp of 77F on average. Night time temp of 70F. In fairness to the manufacturer, on the first day, I didn’t use the circulation fan that comes with the product because it’s fairly loud and I’m in an apartment complex. On the 2nd day however, when I ran the room for 11 hours, I did everything as instructed, with circulation fan and everything. The 3 thermometers were placed deep into luggage filled with clothing, books and electronics.Full log of usage for first day:Monday 2020Apr20:15:09: started all 4 heaters.16:36: turns out only 3 were on, turned on the 4th. We purchased this after my elderly parents had an infestation in their lift chairs. We originally paid an exterminator to heat treat the whole house, but within 6 months they came back. They have hard wood floors and just a few pieces of furniture so we decided to try this instead of another exterminator.Setup was easy enough if you follow the instructions and place the three temp sensors around and in the furniture you are treating. I like to make sure I have at least two buried in the folds of the furniture and one out on top. We would wait until the coldest one shows 120 and then we would set a timer for 1 hour. Treating the chairs the first time killed a LOT of them. We were supposed how many there actually was. The heat up time took us about 4hrs to get all the temps up to 120. We did this in a garage with an ambient temperature of about 85f to start. It does heat up the surrounding area as well, first time temperature in garage got up to about 124f inside and close to 140 at two temp spots inside the tent with the third hitting 120f. Well worth investment. We treated the rest of the house with that powder stuff and heated all the furniture a few pieces at a time until we finished. So far we haven’t seen any live ones but we are going to re-treat all the furniture again in two weeks to be safe. I highly recommend if you don’t have it spread through your whole house yet. If you do I would suggest having an exterminator treat the whole house and then getting one of these to treat specific furniture if it originates there.

It’s possible to set up by yourself but not a whole lot of fun. Have a helper (especially if you’re going to be moving furniture around). The room is NOT large enough to put a queen or king size mattress in laying down. You have to get the mattress and box spring to stand up. That’s how they intended it ’cause it will heat better standing up then laying down anyway. But if your mattress is plush like mine, you’re going to have a tough time doing this. Zappbug recommends (after the fact) that you should rig some structure up to prop everything up. Their foam blocks help a bit.Do NOT leave unattended. When your mattress falls over or it trips a breaker you need to be there to fix it.Very strong frame and tent. Did not tear or break when everything fell over inside.Make sure the first thing you do is set up the wireless thermometers and make sure they work. You really don’t want to have to try and find them buried in your furniture when it’s 110 degrees in the tent because they need to be reset.I was not too thrilled with the gaps around the zippers, but they swear that bugs can not climb up the fabric (another good reason to make sure nothing leans against the tent fabric while it’s running). I hope they’re right. Bed bugs are actually really smart and have excellent survival skills (no joke). They can walk right across those glue traps that will stop roaches stone cold. I caught one alive for professional identification (before I knew what it was) and put in one of those sealed glass lock jars. It took a day or so, but the darn thing found the gap and managed to squeeze half way through the rubber seal before it squashed itself to death. You have to be really careful when setting up your stuff for treatment and make sure that everything is sealed up and there are no hiding spaces which won’t heat up because they’ll find the cool spots and hide there and survive. That’s why Zappbug says heat it for an extra hour even after all the thermometers say 120+.Close the bedroom door when you’re running it. This thing actually heated up the entire room in an 8-hour treatment and I think I actually treated the entire bedroom and not just the stuff in the tent. Crank the house heat up all the way if you can.Their new heat chamber pro looks like it’s easier to set up and has a better heating system, but it’s not on the market just yet and who knows how much it costs and I couldn’t wait around to try it.I took notes with pictures when I was unfolding the tent but still could not get the thing back in the duffel bag.FYI: an 8-hour treatment will use up about 50 KWh.It saved my bed and so it’s worth it.
