Very nice looking product with wonderful functionality! It keeps all of our extra stuff in one spot on our deck (chair pillows and covers, candle buckets, small garden tools for deck plants, etc.) and it has a very tight-fitting lid so everything stays dry and out of the weather. It took a while to assemble, but if you follow the instructions closely, your patience will pay off with a very sturdy and attractive product.

The is a decent box and I believe it will keep the water out, but it’s overpriced for the quality of the product. Assembly was extremely challenging – the walls go up easily but the lid assembly is a beast. Multiple tools are needed so don’t believe the picture on the front of the box that says “easy assembly” with a picture of a screwdriver. At a minimum, you will need a phillips head screwdriver and a socket wrench set. Even better if you also have a drill, as there are no predrilled holes and getting screws in takes quite a bit of hand strength. The biggest challenge though was that there are a few bolts with a nut that you absolutely cannot tighten without using a socket wrench. Seems easy enough, but a couple areas are not accessible with the wrench, so I spent probably 30 minutes trying to find ways to tighten these bolts without use of the wrench. Also note, you NEED 2 people for attaching the lid…1 to hold in the exact position and 1 to attach screws into non-predrilled places. If you put the hole in the wrong spot, you’re screwed (literally) so get some help. Bon chance!

Screws go into poor quality and weak plastic areas – takes 2 people to assemble. Access to place screws very difficult to reach and none of them stay tight. It looks nice when put together but the lid will likely become a sit on lid due to screws pulling out and not tight. Do not recommend.

This is a really nice looking and practical deck storage box. Even the assembly is simple until you get to the hinged corner with the hydraulic lift arm. I noted other reviews before I bought this but figured I was smarter than those people and could assemble or adapt the assembly to make this hinge easier to assemble and stronger. I was ready with additional metal plates and screws to reinforce the hinge and make it better than originally engineered. This thing is impossible. There is no room to add any reinforcement to the hinge. and unless you have three hands, positioning the hinge/screws in the strongest/widest part of the plastic structure is very difficult. After several attempts and a few moves of the hinge I finally got a reasonably strong bite of the screws in the plastic but I have no confidence it will last long under pressure from the hydraulic arm. This box is expensive for it’s size and should have been engineered much better than it was. A plain hinge and chain with a closing clasp on the front and no hydraulic arm would have kept it closed or opened without all the drama of this assembly and made it cheaper. That’s probably what I will end up with after the original hinge breaks or separates from the box.

Man, I have to say a really like this storage unit. There was a little bit more to putting it together since it has screws and a gas shock for the lid, which is kind of handy. The interior dimensions are a bit wider than the 99 gallon unit we have, but of course it’s not as long. But the bigger dimensions means it holds big patio furniture cushions better without having to crush/squeeze them in. It holds about 4 of them laying flat and stacked. The gas shock is on one side, so the other may sag a tiny bit when up, but it has not bothered me. I have had no issues with it not working correctly, and it stays when up it’s supposed to. Our 4 year old can easily get cushions out and back in as needed.It is a very solid unit, can be sat on, but may not work great for that as it’s a bit on the tall side and would only fit one person on it. However, with the smaller footprint and fitting 4 cushions so easily, I’m really tempted to get rid of our 99 gallon unit for another one these. The double wall construction makes it noticeably more stiff, as the 99 gallon unit with single wall lid flexes quite easily. Finally, we’ve had this 2 years now, but it looks quite a bit better than the 99 and 34 gallon units we’ve have a bit longer. None of them are in the sun, so I’m not sure if age just hasn’t caught up to this one, or if it has a slightly different finish/coating on it that’s keeping it nicer looking so far (no fading/dusty look to it yet). Storage wise, the biggest drawback is that you need to stack bigger 22″+ cushions, so if you put in some cushions and some covers, they won’t be side by side to pull one out but not the other (as opposed to a longer bin like the 99 gallon one). I am pretty happy with this unit though. You can see a sliver of light through the bottom of the walls and the bottom plate. I am not exactly sure if that’s a enough room for a mouse to get in, just an FYI. It should be able to caulked easily I expect if needed.
