Wonderfully comfortable, this contemporary recliner chair offers a sleek and stylish profile. It features a solid wood walnut finish base with taupe bonded leather upholstery that is highly durable, waterproof, easy to clean, and colorfast. The chair swivels a full 360-degrees and reclines to a depth of 45-degrees. A matching ottoman makes this the perfect seating for reading, relaxing or watching TV.
Chair is 40″ high x 30″ wide. Adjust from 28 1/2″ deep to maximum 42″ deep. Armrest height is 20 1/2″ from the floor. Back is 21 1/4″ high overall. Weighs 48.7 lbs.

Very comfortable reading chair. Looks good. Reclines well. Footstool is well designed too. Great value, I know someone who paid thousands for a fancy stressless chair and I don’t notice much of a difference sitting in it compared to mine.

Benchmaster Sucks!
It’s a nice chair but arrived without parts to make it lock in place – so it just flops around. From what I can tell, Lampsplus is still waiting for Benchmaster to provide the correct parts. It has been 2 weeks with no word from Benchmaster. I just want to get this lemon out of my living room!

Bought this chair to replace a Mac Motion that was about 15 years old. I was surprised at how easy it was to assemble. All of the hardware needed, including allen wrenches, was nicely laid out in molded clear plastic cases, making identification of pieces shown in the 9-step instructions easy. The next to last step is installation of the arm rests and for some reason I reversed them left-for-right and had a heck of a time getting the bolts to line up and noticed the seat seemed narrow. Then when looking at the picture on Amazon in preparation for writing my review, I realized the error and was able to reverse them to their proper position quickly. Amazing how much easier things go when you get the assembly right! Seat is much wider now and matches my old Mac Motion. I’ve had some back issues in the past and this chair gives good low back support and is very comfortable. Everything about it suggests high quality and from the attention to detain — including use of blue locking compound on some important bolts — I’m hopeful it will last a long time. It reclines back further than my Mac Motion ever did and I really like the piston-assisted storage under the ottoman cover too. I put small furniture sliders under the six ottoman “legs” to make it easier to move the ottoman on our carpeted floor. It is redder than it appears in the Amazon photo which, for us, is a good thing; just the color we were hoping it would be. Finally, I can’t believe how quickly it was delivered; in only about 4 days via FedEx ground. If I could give it six stars, I would. If anything changes, I’ll be sure and update this review.

After reading reviews from satisfied customers and admiring the comfortable looking lines of the chair, I decided to order the Newport. Love the taupe color, the comfort, the ease in getting up, and the swivel feature. The foot stool is comfortable in either direction and is easy to move. I will use a small pillow for additional lumbar support. It was easy to assemble – four hands make it easier to align screws. It arrived with a slightly damaged shipping box. The two bases had some minor issues. Lamps Plus was on top of things and sent replacements when I contacted them by email. With all the current COVID issues in communication, there was a little confusion about the replacement parts sent and I ended up with two brand new foot stools. I didn’t want to wait for more parts and decided to just put it together with the damaged bases. The small dents were not even visible. Taped up the replacement box and Lamps Plus had FedEx pick it up. Everyone was super helpful and I love the chair. I will definitely look at Lamps Plus first in the future because of their superior customer service.

No matter what bad things the folks say about assembly it was easy! All parts and equipment (tools) needed to assemble were inside the box, blister packed and well-labeled. It went together in about 20-30 minutes. We are really enjoying this chair. HOWEVER, as a shorter person (5’2″) I find that I must prop my legs on the ottoman, as my feet don’t quite reach the floor when I sit up. But my husband (5’10”) enjoys it very much. The recline is perfect and he does occasionally nap in this chair.

Great chair- comfortable, well made and easy to assemble. Perfect color – as described. Seat is very firm after 10 years in my old recliner, but I’m quickly getting used to this because it is a very comfortable and very good looking too.Was going to buy a soft seat cushion but now I enjoy the overall comfort and it’s big enough for our 68 lb. lab to sit in my lap. Love that the foot stool holds my books and magazine and “stuff”.

Update: After 8 months of use, I can honestly say the foam used is not the best quality. The ottoman now will not recover it’s shape.–where the feet rest , it is caved in. Chair is used by a person that weighs 120 lbs and is 5’6″ tall. I suppose a person could replace the foam (there is a zipper on the cover ). Also find that sitting in this chair more than 2 hours is uncomfortable on back and buttocks. I have placed latex pillows on the chair seat and chair back to make it more comfortable. Chair has no lumbar support. Other than that, it still looks okay but the pillows detract from it’s modern appearance.Original review:the provided Allen wrench is of little use, when you attach the arms. It’s a tight fit and a PITA. I put this together without any help, you can too. I laid the chair on it’s side– to screw on the arms, no way that was gonna happen otherwise. Other than that, I have nothing negative to say about this chair. It’s not a ‘sink into’ type of chair, the seat and the back are firm, which is exactly what I wanted. The chair is nicely made, no loose threads, no scuffs or scratches, no funky odors. It was packed very well–both the chair and ottoman in one big box, that fit easily through my front door. I like the small footprint of this chair, it looks great in my home office.
