Beautiful, Well Build, Sturdy Theo Bookcase
I recently purchased their 5-shelf Theo Bookcase from Amazon.ca (sold from UrbanInspirations – a 3rd party company) only to have the bookcase arrive with shelves dinged and with scrapes over them. I called the Nathan James customer service directly, spoke with a super helpful, friendly rep named Leyla. She immediately took action, found a replacement bookshelf from Wayfair and help ship it to me free of cost. AND I didn’t need to pay to return the damaged bookcase. She then followed up multiple times via email to ensure everything was ok, and that I received the replacement bookcase. Could not have been happier with their customer service.Re the bookcase, its GORGEOUS. Crazy easy to build (built it by myself in under 30 mins). Does not require to be nailed into the wall studs, it comes with drywall screws. Its modern and super sturdy. I ended up buying a second I liked it so much.

Iâm so happy I decided to purchase this shelf. It was super easy to install by myself and it looks great. Including unpacking it, it took me roughly 20 mins to install each shelf. I also purchased the Nathan James desk to go alongside it. The shelves are not real wood but a laminated MDF which I donât mind cause there still really sturdy. If you mount the shelf in a stud you will be fine but if not I donât recommend using the screws and plugs they provide as there small and crappy. I personally used metal plugs and the shelf isnât going anywhere. The price is pretty high for this product not to have real wood shelves but I totally recommend this product.

This shelf is not cheap and flimsy at all. I am always sceptical when I buy online, but this arrived and I was super happy with how solid and well made it is. Easy to assemble and looks beautiful in my daughters room. I love how it freed up the floor space below for a more open airy feel than a regular bookcase.

Overall I am super happy with the final look. It’s the closest thing I could find to what I wanted, at a reasonable price. I was eyeing the CB2, but at mode than triple the price of the size I needed, it wasn’t an option for me.The installation was pretty simple and took no more than 30min. The issue we had was the screws seeming not sturrdy enough, so we used a more sturdy anchor that we had on hand.The look is sleek, simple, a classy. I cannot wait to decorate it with items. I have to say there are a few strange marks that almost each of the shelves had which I am unable to remove…. It’s not a deal breaker but you should be aware if you’re a perfectionist this may irritate you (see photos attached).Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase and overall look of the product. As you can see I installed two side by side and really like the look.

Highly recommend! Extremely sturdy- love that it attaches to the wall so it doesnt move. It was also super easy to put together. The wood is thick and a bit heavier so you can add heavy books without it sagging in the center. The metal is also very sturdy and wont budge. Everything lines up perfectly when attaching shelves to unit. but you can double check when attaching to the wall that its leveled (it was perfect). There was absoloutely no damages to mine on the wood or metal (i purchased 2 bookcases in black and walnut)Took me about 20 mins to put together and attach to the wall (im a girl with NO building experience). All screws including drywall screws were provided.Came 3 days earlier than expected (during covid lockdown where everything is delayed).Would highly recommend.

Look great just about anywhere!
I like that they have a narrow footprint and look great in any setting! However, I am careful to place books in the middle of the shelves (not all the way to the back or to the front), to center the weight with the vertical bars. Otherwise, I feel that it could break. It is not super strong, but then the price is just right for what you get. As long as one is mindful of balance, it works very well and looks great!

 I love this piece. It was really easy to assemble all my own. It took me less than 30 minutes to assemble. The quality of the shelves anns rails are great, I was concerned they may be flimsy which was a concern for me initially. I think this is a great quality item for the price point. I would definitely recommend. The hardware and screws were all included, in this item a ton of storage in display space.

This is my second Nathan James shelf. The first one I bought for this space is the kind that lies against the wall at the top, but sits on the floor at the bottom, a ladder tape shelf. It just wasnât tall enough so my daughter suggested this type. I love it but what you must know is this extremely heavy it must be installed in at least one stud, which is why it is not centered on this wall.

The bookcases were easy to build and actually look very nice and modern. The only problem is, one of the bookcases wasn’t as well put together as the other three (I ordered four) and was damaged (metal scratched/grooved at the side of one of the shelves), which was such a shame, as they were not cheap.

This shelf was exactly what we were looking for for our apartment. As other reviews have stated, I thought the wood seemed a little lighter and a touch cooler in color in person than it did in the preview photos, but the color is still really nice and grew on me quickly. It was pretty easy to assemble.The customer service was amazing — the first shelf we received had a slight imperfection on one of the bars, but the company offered us a choice between a discount or to receive a brand new one AND keep the old one. We decided on the latter. They even sent us an apology box of chocolates — truly the extra mile!!
