Easy to assemble great product
We bought this bed for our 7 year old to help creat space in her small bedroom for her to play. I had been in the market for a loft bed with steps because I was worried sheâd fall getting up in the night if I bought one with a ladder. I also didnât want a standard loft bed as sheâs still quite young and doesnât need a ton of room underneath. It does itâs job and looks pretty great. It took us about 5 hours to assemble and was pretty easy. I do wish I had gotten the standard size now though. So if your on the fence about getting this one or a standard size go for the standard weâll probably only get another year out of this one before we have to switch to the standard size.

CANNOT PRAISE ENOUGH!!!
If every piece of furniture came with this set up, Iâd be a professional builder ! What an easy to read well instructed manual! There are a lot of steps but itâs is so easy to follow. My advice- DO NOT over tighten screws DURING assembly, it will make your life much easier.
I learned my lesson the hard way and used a longer screw on the storage/step piece on accident and marked it up. Be sure youâre using the right length screws !! Otherwise, this was such a flawless set up. My kids love it! I highly recommend! You wonât be disappointed! 5*

No question, buy it .. disregard any alternatives
The only negative about this product is build time… I’m a super handy guy but still took about 3 hours.. but that aside.. the single most most well designed and engineered item I’ve ever put together, and there have been many. So impressively precise and strong. Absolute insane value for the end product, can’t emphasize enough

My Daughter Loves it
This is a great product. However I find that it makes lots of noise. So it is not very sturdy.

Am a little dissapointed on the itemz that had a little damage.
Lots of parts to assemble but instruction is very user friendly. Shipping and delivery is fast. There are some damages like dent on the metal railing and damage on the corner of one of the wood. Came early than it supposed to be. Other than its good.

Building a bed from scratch would have been less trouble.
Packaging was heavily damaged upon arrival, 40% of the parts were badly warped or just not sized properly.. the bed is much shorter than presented.. the whole thing is an over complicated toddler bed that put my Husband and I to tears.. not only out of frustration at putting it together but also because we both threw out our backs and strained our biceps trying to manually screw in the self tapping screws as the “pilot holes” are not where they should be. Definitely needs a power drill if you want to save your arms. Its sturdy once we finally got it together but still wonky and crooked looking over all.. start to finish 7 hours to complete.. better instructions than Ikea, but shoddy craftsmanship, chipped paint.. and OH GOD how will we get this out of the room when we move??!! Price not worth it all..

HOLY BAGILLION PIECES!! BUT AWESOME BED!!
First off I want to say that this is a great bed. That’s said – here are the particulars:
When this DHP Junior Loft with Storage Steps arrived I had to get my teen daughter to help me get it in the house. (I’m a small woman, but I can usually move heavy things around without too much trouble) This box was HEAVY – And Long. So… fi you’re not a heavy lifter be sure to have a help of some sort with moving this box.
After getting it into the room in which it would be set up, I opened the box to find a never ending flow of pieces to pull out. There are seriously a bagillion pieces! I added some pictures, but I didn’t even get all the parts/pieces in the pictures. AND there are a TON of different types of hardware. It comes with a hex key but it’s definitely necessary to have a couple of screwdrivers as well (flathead and Phillips) Now, I am pretty handy at assembling things and I usually don’t ask for help from my husband unless I really need a second hand to hold things together. So, I started putting this bed together around noon (after taking ten minutes at least just to get all of the pieces pulled out of the box and somewhat organized). First off I have to say that there is a learning curve to assembling this bed. In order to put some parts together, you have to go back and loosen some other parts that have already been assembled – and there are pieces that don’t go together completely smoothly and need a little persuading (not that I’ve ever assembled anything that didn’t have parts like this). So, I worked almost non-stop until about 3:20 and still had plenty left to finish. By that point though I was seeing this as a challenge, so I was kind of excited to get my kids picked up from school and get back to finish the job. But by the time I got home, my husband was home and ready to help, though accepting help was hard to do considering the fact that I felt like I had already accomplished so much on my own and really wanted to take the whole credit for such a tremendous feat. Having the second set of hands though was extremely helpful and we finished the job in about 25-30 minutes. Standing back to look at our (MY) accomplishment, we were very happy with it. It is super cute, and very sturdy. I don’t have any worries that it will teeter, break, or fall apart underneath my daughter.
In the end, this bed is EXACTLY what I was expecting and hoping for and my five year old daughter LOVES it!

UPDATE*** As of April 7, 2015 nearly a month and a half since I assembled the bed, I have not had one problem with the bed. I had some extra time on my hands today with some rainy weather, so I took out the allen wrench and attempted to tighten all the screws. No need. With the blue thread locker i put on there during assembly, everything is still tight and sturdy. A very active 3 year old boy has not managed to tear this bed up yet and I doubt from the sturdy construction that he will be able to.
I hope this helps your buying decision.******
I bought this bed for my son for his new “big boy bed”. We love it. It is the perfect height for my wife and I to tuck him in without having to climb up the bed like you would have to with a traditional bunk bed, and it isn’t too high that if he were to fall or jump (most likely) off the bed, that he could hurt himself. I used a standard twin mattress with no bunky board or anything underneath. The supports are close enough together once you clip everything together to support a regular mattress. I bought one here on Amazon for like $95, and it came rolled up in a small box. You can read my review on the mattress there.
As far as the whole buying process, Amazon got it out to me and it was supposed to be delivered on the 3rd day, but due to a winter storm and to bad road conditions in my area, I didn’t get it for over a week past the scheduled delivery date. But, alas, it did finally come. The box is HEAVY! You will need two people to handle it. I unpacked it and laid all the pieces out on the floor so I could find everything, and from start to finish, I took about 3 hours to assemble it. I could have assembled it a little faster, but I chose to put the blue Locktite thread-locker on all my screws as I assembled it. I highly recommend that, so you won’t have to worry about the screws coming loose after a three year old jumps on it for a month. It gives me a little piece of mind to know that they are locked it there, but not permanently so disassembly is possible if you ever need to in order to move, or sell, etc. You can pick the blue-glue up at any home improvement store for about $6.
So, all in all, I think this bed was an excellent purchase. I would highly recommend the bed. It seems to be very sturdy and will last a long time, even with my rough and rowdy three year old son. I love the storage in the steps. The bottom part is a pull-out drawer, and we used that to put his cars and airplanes in, and the top part is a swing-out cabinet that we put a little storage bin with some Lincoln logs in. Perfect for toy storage.
Buy it, you won’t be disappointed. I will update this if anything changes and you guys need to know about it. For sure use the thread-lock!

My daughter had finally outgrown her toddler bed and i decided it was time to get her a nice twin sized one. I shopped around for frames with the intent of getting something fun and unique. I started seeing loft beds like this one (Which i didnt even know were a thing) but every one i saw was like 700+ dollars! NOPE! Amazon has always been my go to shopping source and low and behold i stumbled across this company and their loft style beds. They have other models and originally i was going to get the one that had a slide attached to it but then i saw one with stairs that double as cubbys for storing toys or whatever you want.
HOW COOL IS THAT!? Where were these when i was a kid man!? Anyways, a word on assembly. I see alot of reviews saying it was difficult to put together for one reason or another. It took me quite some time to put together but it was in no way difficult. The instructions are crystal clear on what you need to do and every single part is labeled with a letter or number for easy reference. it took a while for me cause i did it by myself, and that being said, i would say this is definitely a 2 person job.
Now you might think that it being 600 dollars cheaper (At the time of this review it was 179.99) that means its 600 dollars crappier. NOPE AGAIN. This thing is solid as a rock. A steel rock. Thats actually a bed. A steel, rock bed. The frame itself is made of a very sturdy metal, everything fits snugly into place and nothing wobbles. The stair, cubby things are made of very hard pressed wood so unless youre going to be resting 300+ pounds on it, i promise they wont buckle. This term gets thrown around alot but, for this price, you cannot beat this bed. when compared to 700 dollar beds like it, theres really no difference.
One thing to note. In my pictures youll notice the mattress is almost level with the guard rails. This is not typical. The mattress i have is one of those super thick, extra padded luxury ones, but the guard rails still do their job. A standard 6 inch mattress will set below the guard rails making it even safer. Its designed in a way that you are NOT suppose to put box springs on it. just the mattress and youre good to go. This thing is fricken sweet and im jealous my daughter gets to sleep in it lol. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I was a bit concerned seeing some people talking about this taking 6 hours to put together. Fortunately that was incorrect. I did this alone, and it took me all of about 90 minutes. Actually about 120 minutes, but I’m subtracting the 30 minutes I spent on the top tube with this horrendous foot and a half long ugly sticker about warnings that they said “Do not remove.” I couldn’t stand how ugly that huge white sticker was (photo uploaded), with the majority of the warnings in foreign languages anyway, so I spent the time stripping it off and using goo gone to remove the residue afterwards. Looks much better with the solid black tube on top there, rather than this monstrosity of a sticker.
Assembly – a bit of a pain. Some things just don’t quite line up well and it took some muscle to get things in place so the screws would go in. This would’ve been easier with a second person, but cest la vie. I got it done.
I was replacing a similar bed, but much larger. The loft bed this replaced was over 6 feet high, had a full length desk underneath, was far more functional. But for some reason, despite being used by my son for almost 4 years, when we rearranged his room, he became afraid of sleeping in it, so I had to “downsize” to one closer to the ground. I used the freecycle webpage to give away the old one, and this went in its place.
Some people had bad shipping experiences, but mine arrived in absolutely perfect condition. Wood, metal, all was perfect. No scratches, no dents in the wood.
One thing I liked about the one I had to replace was that the desk helped “square” everything. This has no parts to help get it squared, you’re left to do that by eye. And even after it’s together, if someone bangs into one of the posts, they can bend things out of square again as well. So this one is sturdy enough to sleep in, but not as solid at holding its shape as the old one was.
But beyond that, it did the job. I just don’t think it’s really worth the cost, considering I didn’t spend that much more for the much larger bed this is replacing. That’s why I took off a star. Value for cost isn’t as good as the other was by the same manufacturer. And the cams used for the wood storage steps were just not that good – they’re holding it together, but they didn’t sit flush to the wood, they actually came back OUT so they protrude inside the storage area. An annoyance for me, and I’ve included a photo of that as well.
But it worked well, wasn’t too difficult to assemble alone, and most important, my son will sleep in the bed again. For me, that’s a win.

It gets the job done. I imagined it was little taller but that was my mistake. I am
Using it for my eight year old. She is petite and is a great size for her. The extra storage on the bed is a great add on. Great product. Everything was included. It took a few hours for me to assemble in my own. The instructions were pretty easy to follow as well.
